Who Are We
Hello, my name is Andrew Greene. I am a certified physical education teacher with my Masters of Science in Family Nutrition and Exercise Science. I have been with the NYC Department of Education for about 15 years. I am currently the athletic director at the high school I teach at and have coached many years of basketball, softball and bowling. I have played baseball in high school and college. I teach Sunday school at the non-denominational church I attend. I also teach a bible study with a group of young adults and go to the Crossroads Juvenile Center to share the gospel with teenagers who are residents there.
I have been married for about 7 years to my lovely wife Catherine. My wife has played high school and division 1 basketball. My wife has her degree in business and was pursuing a degree in education for children with autism when she stopped to take care of our son AJ. She stayed home to homeschool him and now takes care of our sweet daughter Isabella as well.
The Problem
When we put our son into sports instruction we enjoyed a lot of what we saw, but we were faced with 3 major problems. One problem we found was that some of the instruction was poor from unqualified individuals. On the other end were knowledgable coaches who were too intense and were not teaching with the love and caring that is needed for a young athlete. The third problem we faced were excessive charges and hiked up rates.
The Solution
We decided to start our own sports instruction. Our classes will be high energy, high intensity, fun classes at an affordable price that teach the proper fundamentals of different sports. More importantly we are going to weave in the love of God and bible lessons throughout the class. We find sports very important, however not nearly as important as eternal salvation through Jesus Christ and discipleship through the wisdom taught in His word. We understand hearing about God is not for everyone, but we will be talking about God, so if you want your children to get solid sports instruction from loving adults then Sports With a Purpose 316 is for you
